Syrah sails the Whitsundays
by Syrah Blog
Mackay is a good starting point for the Islands, so we stayed a few days, stocking up the cellar and doing a few small maintenance things to the boat.
The weather can be weird and we experienced a sea fog that rolled in about 9 in the morning and hung around for a few hours - one local said he hadn’t seen one in 10 years. We left the next morning and ran into exactly the same fog which must have been waiting for us to venture out to sea. It didn’t clear ‘til about 3h, when we were well on our way to overnight at Brampton Island. The southern group of the Whitsunday’s isn’t the Whitsundays (they’re called the Goldsmith Islands), but they’re all so close it didn’t really matter..…we figured we had MADE IT!!
